About Our School

In 1939-40 and in the following winter, Fathers Chaumonot and Brebeuf visited this region. On this mission Father Brebeuf, in a dream, saw heavenly spirits beckoning him on and thereupon dedicated the area to “Our Lady of the Holy Angels.” This was the inspiration for naming Holy Angels Parish. In 1957, St. Thomas Separate School Board opened St. Raphael’s, followed by St. Michael’s in 1962 and St. Gabriel’s in 1967. In 2009, St. Anne’s Catholic School was opened, bringing together the students of St. Gabriel’s and St. Raphael’s into one school building.

Facilities

St. Anne’s Catholic School opened September 8, 2009. Our school has 28 classrooms currently being used, we have five portables in use on site. There are 2.5 Student Program Support Teachers and offices. The library is large and well stocked. There is a large gymnasium which can be divided into two separate gyms. In the office area, there is a small health room, a Conference room, an office for the principal, as well as an office for the vice-principal.

Living Our Faith

Volunteers are always welcome at St. Anne’s Catholic School. We have numerous family volunteers that assist with special events, coaching, and school programs. We also have co-op students from St. Joseph Catholic High School and teacher candidates from the Faculty of Education are trained by our excellent staff. Our staff and students support the Caring Cupboard through food drives, Terry Fox Charity with a running event, United Way with staff dress down days and school spirit days. Monies collected through fundraising events are used in several ways: supporting class trips, student tournament fees, bussing costs for recreational events such as Dancefest, Gymnastics, Cross Country, Track and Field and other programs.

Transportation Information

Some of our students take the bus to school. Students come from Port Stanley, Sparta, Union, and St. Thomas.

School Safety

Our safe arrival program helps ensure that students are accounted for each morning and at lunch time. Our School Code of Conduct requires safe play on the yard. St. Anne’s is a Nut-Aware School. Foods with nut or nut residue in them are not brought to or eaten at school.
